How to Promote Yourself Online

The Hotel Graduate Network provides graduates with an opportunity to promote themselves online to fellow members and other prospective career contacts.

  the first page that you will be directed to, upon signing, in is the Network Home Page where you will find links to the main tools and links available to Hospitality Graduate Network members

      Join this group for information and sharing on how to improve education in hospitality.

    • Hotel Schools »

      Which hospitality school did you attend? Join the associated group to connect with fellow graduates!

    • Industry Sectors »

      Share information about your particular industry sector!

    • Locations »

      Meet with people who may be working in the same city or location as you!
      You will need to request permission to join these groups. When you contact the group administrator you will recive this message. Click OK to request approval to join.

• Click on the 'Manage Profile' link on the top right menu on the Network Home Page.
  
  
  
  The Manage Profile page gives you access to the following tools and links. This is where you can setup your profile.
  
  
  • Information & Settings
    
    
    • Edit Bio - Update your information and choose privacy settings for individual fields.
    • Preferences - View and manage preferences and notification settings for your account.
      
  • Content & Features
    
    
    • Favorites - Manage your favorites and share them with the community.
    • Networks - View and manage social/professional networks.
    • Blogs - Post to your existing blogs, manage settings and create new blogs.
    • Photo Gallery - Post photos, manage albums, update captions and view your photos.
    • Files & Links - Upload files and create links in your file library.
      
  • Community
    • Messaging - Read and manage messages, create and organize message folders.
    • Groups - View and manage group membership, configure group options.
    • Connections - View connection requests, manage connections and categories.
    • Referrals - View referrals, track referral history and send invitations.
    • Subscriptions - Manage your subscriptions for email notifications to blogs and forums.
      
  • Networking & Careers
    
    
    • Resumé/CV - Create your Resumé/CV, manage security and privacy settings.
      
  • Account History
    
    
    • Event Registrations - View and print existing registrations and view past events and photos.
    • Membership - View your membership status and view membership renewal options.
      

Uploading your photo

• Go to your Profile Home Page
• At the top left of the main window you can add or edit your own photo
  • Click 'Add or Edit' to change your photo - This photo will appear next to your contact information on your personal page. Headshots allow for quick member recognition and typically work best.
  • If you have other photos you would like to share, they can be uploaded to your personal photo album.
    

Participating in forums

• Click on the 'Member's Pages' menu button
• Choose 'Forums'
  • The 'Forums' page appears (see pic below)
  • Select the forum you wish to join
  • You can read existing posts or add a new one of your own
    
    
    

Posting your own blog

• Click on the 'Profile Home' page liink
• Click on 'More' link in top left of page
  • A pull-down menu appears.
  • Choose 'Blogs'
  • A list of your Blogs appears
  • To add a new blog click on 'Add New Blog.'
